Encouraging results in the fight against coronavirus in Cuba

Havana, June 9.-- Shortly before the plane that brought home the 52 medical workers who saved lives in Italy landed on Cuban soil, Cuban government leaders checked the situation with COVID-19, as they do everyday.  

The day was marked by that longed-for return and also by the encouraging numbers of this 90th day of the fight against the disease in Cuba.

3,500 people return to Cuba on humanitarian flights

Havana, Jun 5.- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez announced today that more than 3,500 Cubans stranded in 35 countries returned to the country on humanitarian flights organized by the government and its counterparts.

Despite the epidemiological situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, efforts continue to guarantee the protection of our citizens, Rodriguez said on his Twitter account.

Without giving details, the foreign minister said that this return was possible thanks to Cuba's efforts.

Cuba's medical brigade goes to Kuwait to combat Covid-19 pandemic

Havana, June 5-  A Cuban medical brigade from the Henry Reeve internationalist contingent traveled yesterday to Kuwait to contribute to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in that Persian Gulf country.

The group made up of 96 doctors, 198 nurses and four specialists in other healthcare areas will join another brigade of 36 professionals from that branch that are already serving in that nation at the request of Kuwait's government, reported Cuban television.

Cuban medical brigade to fight Covid-19 in Guinea

Havana, June 4 - A Cuban medical brigade left for Guinea to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, Ana Teresita Gonzalez, first deputy minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, reported.

The medical brigade is made up of 11 doctors and 10 nurses, Teresita Gonzalez tweeted.

We were there (Guinea) to fight the Ebola outbreak in 2014, she recalled, asserting Cuba and Africa are united for good.

According to official data, Cuba has sent over 2,600 medical collaborators, devided into 33 brigades, to 26 nations so as to help fight Covid-19.
