Cuban president condemns threats against teleSUR

Havana, January 13, 2020. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez strongly rejected on Monday the threats by Venezuelan opposition lawmaker Juan Guaido to take over teleSUR's television signal.

'We strongly reject threats against the voice and image of the peoples who fight and resist the imperialist onslaught. From Our America and the world: #VivaTeleSUR' the president tweeted.

Cuban migrants criticize desecration of busts of Marti

Washington, January 13, 2020. The Alianza Martiana (Marti Alliance), which brings together Cuban migrants in Miami, USA, rejected this Monday the recent desecration of several busts of National Heroe Jose Marti in Havana.

'We energetically condemn those monsters who finance the vandals that commit such crimes,' a press release underscored.

Casa de las Americas launches call for 61st Literary Prize

Havana, January 12, 2020. Casa de las Americas today launched a call for the 61rst Casa Prize, which from January 20 to 30 will recognize the best of literary creation in Latin America.

The President of the institution, Abel Prieto, highlighted the award's relevance in the current political context and recalled the legacy of essayist and Casa founder Roberto Fernandez Retamar, who died last July, in exercising effective leadership in pursuit of literary and artistic creation.
