Cuban Foreign Minister denounces US tightening of the blockade

Havana, January 20, 2020.  Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced today the fierce tightening of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by the US, as part of its policy against Cuba.

This tightening causes humanitarian and economic damage, and affects the Cuban people, Cubans residing in the US and other countries, and Americans themselves, Rodriguez tweeted.

Havana among FlightNetwork's preferences

Havana, January 19, 2020. The Canadian website FlightNetwork chose Havana among the world's 50 most beautiful cities, ranking 28th on the list.

Named one of the new seven wonders of the world, Havana has so much to offer. The website says that the capital of all Cubans ranked 28th among the beauties not to miss on the planet.

According to FlightNetwork, Havana's attributes go beyond having an incredible architecture, because it has innumerable attractions.

Russian tourist arrivals in Cuba increase by 30% in 2019

Havana, January 17, 2020. In spite of U.S. sanctions imposed on Cuba in 2019, further tightened since the beginning of this year and directly impacting tourism, the country is committed to develop the sector, with significant results including a 30% increase in the number of Russian visitors as compared to 2018.

Of the more than 4.3 tourists who had arrived as of December, 178,000 were Russian, a number expected to reach 200,000 in 2020, according to Cuba’s ambassador in Moscow, Gerardo Peñalver.

Cuba sends solidarity message to the people and government of Australia

Havana, January 16, 2020. The President of the National Assembly and the Council of State of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández, has sent a message to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia, Tony Smith, expressing his deep sorrow at the consequences of the devastating fires in that country.

Lazo Hernández regretted the loss of human lives, the damage to the nation's ecosystem, the death of millions of animals and the severe economic damage caused by this major disaster.
