Cuba and Malta sign Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of Political Consultations.

New York, 26 September 2019. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of the Republic of Malta signed today a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of Political Consultations, with the objective of strengthening bilateral relations through dialogue and mutual cooperation, in accordance with the objectives and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963.

Cuba denounces the global escalation of aggression of the current U.S. government in a Ministerial meeting of the NAM.

Four years have elapsed since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. However, the prevailing international order continues to be unjust, unequal and exclusive. For 40 consecutive years, developed countries have failed to meet their Official Development Assistance commitments. Unsustainable patterns of production and consumption linger on, leading the world to the imminent destruction of the conditions for life on the planet.

Good evening ladies and gentleman.

I wish to thank the Editors of MEDICC for inviting us to the launch of this special issue and I want to congratulate them for an outstanding work.

With all the current scientific progress and the immense accumulated wealth, half of the world´s 7.3 billion inhabitants remain without basic health services.  Of the 60 million deaths in 2016, 54 per cent were caused by the ten main curable diseases.
