Cuban Head of Mission in Liberia thanks African Union for for approving the resolution against the blockade to Cuba.

Monrovia, February 10, 2022 - The Head of the Cuban Mission in Liberia, Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera, held an exchange with Mr. Joaquin Sendolo, journalist of the African country.

The occasion was propitious to thank the African Union for its support. For the thirteenth consecutive time, it called at its Summit to lift the prolonged and unjustifiable policy imposed by the US against Cuba. 

Media Statement: Committee on International Relations Expresses Its Concern About US Embargo on Cuba

Parliament, Tuesday, 8 February 2022 – The 7th of February marked 60 years since the United States (US) has enforced its unilateral economic embargo against Cuba and which severely restricts the flow of goods to the island.

The extraterritorial laws of the US punish foreign companies that do business with Cuba. The United Nations General Assembly has consistently passed a resolution every year since 1992, demanding the end of the US economic embargo against Cuba.

60 years since the proclamation that formalized the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States against Cuba

Declaration by the revolutionary government

The revolutionary government condemns the continuance for over 60 years of the economic, commercial and financial sanctions formally imposed by the United States on 3rd February 1962. On that date, the then president, John F. Kennedy, issued Proclamation 3447, “Embargo on All Trade with Cuba” under Section 620(a) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. He thereby conferred official status on the unilateral economic hostilities already in effect against Cuba since our country’s revolutionary victory.

Embacuba Liberia staff condemns the blockade on the 60th anniversary of the officialization of this policy of economic siege.

Monrovia, February 3, 2021.- The Cuban Embassy in Liberia reiterates its condemnation of the blockade, on a day like today, which marks 60 years since then U.S. President John F. Kennedy signed the official blockade against Cuba and its people.

This failed Cold War policy still constitutes the longest and most comprehensive economic, commercial and financial siege against any country.

This morning, February 3, 2022, within the framework of the sixtieth anniversary of the signing of Proclamation 3447, which formalized the blockade of the United States government against Cuba, the Amphitheater of the Convention Center "Enrique José Varona" was the venue of a conversation between colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) and students and professors from the University of Havana (UH).

The Helms-Burton Act and the extraterritoriality of the United States blockade against Cuba

New York, February 1, 2022. Since its entry into force in 1996, the Cuban Democratic Freedom and Solidarity Act, also known as Helms-Burton, codified the blockade against Cuba and strengthened its extraterritorial reach, aimed at internationalizing the blockade through coercive measures against third countries, in order to hinder and interrupt their trade and investment relations with Cuba.

Liberia-Cuba Friendship Group reiterates condemnation of blockade to Cuba.

Monrovia, January 17, 2022 - Once again the Liberia-Cuba friendship group condemns the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on our country. This time it does so through social networks by participating in the virtual event Solidarity against the Blockade, organized by the Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.

15,000 Pounds of powdered milk delivered to Cuba/The People's Forum

On January 15, 2022, the organizations Puentes de Amor, The People’s Forum and CODEPINK are sending a cargo plane loaded with 15,000 pounds of powdered milk from Miami to Cuba. Representatives of the organizations are traveling to Cuba with the shipment. The aid will be received by the Martin Luther King Center in Havana. It will be distributed to pediatric hospitals in Havana.
