Three more British academics have formally nominated Cuba’s Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade (HRIMB) for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize
Thank you to Professor Marjorie Mayo, Professor Antoni Kapcia. and Dr Muir Houston who bring the number of British academics to make public nominations to eleven.
Professor Mayo explained some of the reasons for her nomination:
“I made this nomination because this is such an exceptional story of international solidarity. The Brigade's altruism provides hope for the future. In these dark times we need to remember that there are positive alternatives for humankind.”

Apsana Begum MP becomes the 21st British parliamentarian to formally nominate Cuban medics for the Nobel Peace Prize
Apsana Begum MP has become the 21st British parliamentarian to formally nominate the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. She was elected MP for Poplar and Limehouse in East London in 2019.
In her submission to the Nobel prize committee Apsana said:
Sam Tarry MP is the twentieth British parliamentarian to formally nominate Cuban medics for the Nobel Peace Prize
Sam Tarry MP is the twentieth British Member of Parliament to formally nominate the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade for the Nobel Peace Prize. Sam was elected MP for the London constituency of Ilford South in 2019.
In support of his nomination Sam said:

The Cuba Solidarity Campaign adds its voice to the worldwide condemnation of the outgoing Trump administration’s listing of Cuba as a ‘state sponsor of terrorism’.
Trump’s move is designed to hinder the incoming Biden administration from reprising the Obama era’s rapprochement with Havana. Obama’s decision to formally remove Cuba from the terrorism list in 2015 was an important step that led to the restoration of diplomatic relations later that year.
