Cuba bets on investment in science and innovation in healthcare

Cuba is betting today on investments in science, technology and innovation within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry because it is a driving force for development, said health sector executives.

The directors of Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Public Health, Ileana Morales, and of the Biocubafarma Business Group, Rolando Pérez, respectively, explained the island's efforts in scientific research and the reasons why government authorities prioritize this activity.

Díaz-Canel recalled Cuba's expulsion from the OAS

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today recalled the expulsion of the Caribbean nation from the Organization of American States (OAS), due to pressures exerted by the United States.

Through his Twitter account, the president stressed that this is a doubly honorable day for Cuban history, since it also commemorates the recruitment of 100,000 young people as volunteer teachers in response to the murder of educator Conrado Benítez.

Tribute to José Martí in the United States

Several U.S. cities paid tribute to Cuba's National Hero on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of his birth. 
The initiative, led by the José Martí Cultural Association, was held at the park named after the Cuban Apostle in Key West, Florida. In other cities such as New York and Minneapolis, friends of the Island also paid tribute to the most intellectual of all Cubans. 
The space was propitious to demand the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation for more than six decades.

The digital as a challenge, a battlefield and an instrument and weapon of struggle, was one of the many issues analyzed by intellectuals from various parts of the planet gathered this Thursday at the 5th International Conference For the Balance of the World.

Intellectuals and the challenges of the contemporary world was the panel that welcomed the interventions of these thinkers, who also focused their analysis on the transforming role of cultural vanguards and political leadership, based on the two decades of existence of the Network of Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity.
