Cuba's José Martí's Golden Age turns 135 years old

135 years ago, the first issue of the magazine for Latin American children The Golden Age, written by Cuban José Martí, saw the light of day, and its humanist essence remains valid today.

In 1889, during Martí's stay in New York to prepare for Cuba's War of Independence against Spanish colonialism, he managed to publish four issues of the magazine, with stories, essays and poetry.

The works contained in La Edad de Oro are recognized for their teachings to the youngest children, in texts that combine beauty, epochs and imagination, and show Martí's humanism and idealism.

Progressive International demands the removal of Cuba from the terrorist list.

More than 250 organizations globally, grouped in the Progressive International (PI), founded in the United States in 2018, today demand the immediate removal of Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

"Cuba is not a sponsor of terrorism" stated the PI in an appeal letter published on the social network X when explaining that the Caribbean nation is indeed a sponsor, but of health, peace and liberation.

Tourism in Cuba is affected by the U.S. blockade.

Tourism authorities in Cuba today strongly criticized the hindrance that the U.S. blockade against the island represents for the travel industry.

A report published in the Granma newspaper on Wednesday points out that it is a limitation that exists. They mention that the Cuban tourism industry, as a driving force for other sectors, has a fundamental impact on the implementation of the National Economic and Social Development Plan and the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and its goals.

Cultural evening held at the Cuban Embassy in the U.S.A.

The Cuban Embassy in the United States celebrated today a cultural evening, in which the film "El mundo de Nelsito", by Cuban filmmaker Fernando Perez, was screened and a selection of Prensa Latina photos was inaugurated.

The presentation took place as part of the XVI Ibero-American Film Festival, the result of a joint effort with the Ibero-American Association of Cultural Attachés and its affiliated embassies.

IV International Congress JURISCUBA 2024 is convened in Cuba.

The Ministry of Justice (Minjus) of Cuba today convenes legal professionals and researchers to participate in the IV International Congress JURISCUBA 2024, to be held from October 15 to 17 in this capital.

According to a publication of the Minjus on the social network Facebook, the event will be held under the theme "Legal security, a challenge of the contemporary world", in the capital's Palacio de las Convenciones.
