Freetown, September 27, 2024. Chargé d'Affaires of Cuba, Ambassador Norma Sánchez Águila, was received by the Acting Minister, Dr. Charles Senessie, Deputy Minister 1 of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
In a cordial meeting, both parties highlighted the ties of solidarity that unite both nations and ratified the willingness to work together to promote relations in the sphere of public health and cooperation in the training and development of human capital in that sector.
The Cuban diplomat thanked Dr. Charles Senessie for his warm reception, reiterating her gratitude for the solidarity of the Sierra Leonean people with the Cuban people in their fight against the unjust and cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for some time. more than 60 years.
For his part, Dr. Senessie thanked the Cuban government for the solidarity support received during the Ebola and Covid-19 pandemics, by sending Cuban doctors to save the lives of the Sierra Leonean population. He thanked Cuba for the training of the doctors from Sierra Leone who today save lives in different latitudes of the country.
Head of the Cuban Diplomatic Mission referred to the current situation in Cuba due to the tightening of the blockade and the unilateral measures of the United States government towards the island, including the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism. She conveyed the feelings of the Cuban people and the struggle they were waging in order to maintain their sovereignty and independence.
