Cuban Ambassador unveils 2026 scholarship recipients in Sierra Leone

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Sierra Leone, Norma Sánchez Águila, has officially unveiled three Sierra Leonean students selected to pursue medical studies in Cuba under a scholarship programme.

The beneficiaries, Isha Sesay, Janice M. Josephine Brimah, and Nandama Ramneh Thuray, are expected to depart Sierra Leone shortly to begin a seven-year medical training programme in Cuba.

Freetown, September 10, 2025. The Cuban Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Norma Sánchez Águila, received a courtesy visit from the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Ms. Edleen Elba.

At the Cuban Embassy, ​​both parties held a cordial meeting, in which they highlighted the bonds of solidarity that unite both nations and reaffirmed their willingness to work together to promote bilateral relations in the economic and commercial spheres.
