Ambassador of Cuba condemned the United States blockade in the context of the 31st meeting of the Governing Council of the Common Fund for Commodities.

The Hague, December 4, 2019. The Ambassador of Cuba in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. Mrs. Soraya Alvarez Núñez, during her statement at the 31st meeting of the Governing Council of the Common Fund of Commodities (FCPB), reiterated Cuba´s support to the Fund´s work and highlighted the importance and relevance of the work performed by that Organization currently celebrating its 30th anniversary.

She took the opportunity to highlight the Fund's strategy in its involvement in attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which demonstrates the Organization's commitment and willingness to support achieve these Goals by Member States.

The Ambassador stressed that Cuba, as a commodity exporting country, faces the inequities and injustices of the current international economic order on a daily basis, to which is added the burden of unilateral extraterritorial measures, such as the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government that limits and hinders the development and commercialization of Cuban commodities, in a fragrant violation of the fundamental rules of commerce and the principles of International Law.

The Governing Council which takes place on December 3rd and 4th in the city of The Hague was another favorable moment to exchange with several members of the Secretariat of this international organization about the projects currently being implemented and the future challenges it faces.
