Despliegue militar de Estados Unidos en el mar Caribe amenaza a la región con pretextos absurdos

El Gobierno cubano rechaza enérgicamente el actual despliegue de fuerzas militares de Estados Unidos en el mar Caribe. Este acto peligroso representa una grave amenaza y una agresiva demostración de fuerza que atenta contra la soberanía y la autodeterminación de los pueblos de América Latina y el Caribe. Ignora, además, el compromiso de los 33 países miembros de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños al proclamar a la región como Zona de Paz.
La imputación estadounidense de asociar al gobierno legítimo de Venezuela y a su presidente Nicolás Maduro Moros con organizaciones criminales de tráfico ilícito de drogas constituye un pretexto absurdo que carece de fundamento. Los gobernantes en Washington desechan irresponsablemente la evaluación de su propia Agencia para el Control de Drogas (DEA) que, en su informe de este año, no menciona al Gobierno de Venezuela entre los autores o facilitadores de operaciones de tráfico de drogas que amenazan el territorio estadounidense.
El Gobierno de Estados Unidos vuelve a las mentiras para justificar la violencia y el despojo. Las utiliza en el renovado despliegue del esquema de dominación anclado en la Doctrina Monroe, clave de su intervencionismo en el continente americano. Con falacias similares se han llevado a cabo agresiones despiadadas con costos humanos considerables y prolongados. Un ejemplo de décadas recientes fue la farsa sobre la supuesta presencia de armas de destrucción masiva en Iraq, pretexto que sirvió para atacar e invadir a un país soberano, provocar la muerte de cientos de miles de sus ciudadanos y el desplazamiento forzoso de una cifra similar.
Estados Unidos es el mayor mercado de estupefacientes en la región y posiblemente en el mundo, según el Informe Global de Drogas de 2025, emitido por la Oficina de Naciones Unidas para el control de la droga y el delito. Es un hecho que se conoce bien y la comunidad internacional tiene el deber de denunciarlo. Es allí donde están las mayores redes de estímulo al consumo, garantía de distribución, facilitación del tráfico, cobro y atesoramiento de las cuantiosas sumas de ganancia, y las que lavan el dinero resultante dentro de la propia economía del país con relativa impunidad, sin que haya un esfuerzo serio y efectivo del gobierno para impedirlo.
Las enormes sumas de dinero procedentes del mercado ilegal estadounidense incitan a la creación y operación de redes de tráfico de drogas en América Latina y el Caribe. La vigorosa industria de armas de ese país y sus privilegios descontrolados para la comercialización alimentan el poder letal de las organizaciones criminales de la región. La falta de atención y acción contra las causas profundas del fenómeno dentro de Estados Unidos, solo agudizará el impacto regional de este flagelo.
Cuba reitera su firme compromiso con la lucha honesta y eficaz contra el tráfico ilícito de drogas, la defensa de la soberanía nacional, y la promoción de la paz y la estabilidad en América Latina y el Caribe.
Denuncia con igual firmeza la utilización de los flujos migratorios irregulares como pretexto para convertir las aguas del mar Caribe en zona de guerra. Nadie con un mínimo de sentido común y de honestidad concibe que la envergadura de los efectivos, técnica militar, medios navales, incluyendo submarinos nucleares, y potencial de fuego que Estados Unidos se ha dispuesto desplegar en esa zona pacífica del mundo sea la manera apropiada para combatir el crimen organizado, el tráfico ilícito de drogas o los flujos irregulares de migración, ni que ese despliegue verdaderamente se proponga los objetivos declarados.
Cuba reitera el llamado hecho por el presidente Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez en la XIII Cumbre Extraordinaria del ALBA-TCP, el pasado 20 de agosto, a denunciar firmemente las nuevas demostraciones de fuerza imperialista.

US Military Deployment in the Caribbean Sea Threatens the Region Under Absurd Pretexts
Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Cuban Government strongly rejects the current deployment of United States military forces in the Caribbean Sea. This dangerous action represents a serious threat and an aggressive show of force against the sovereignty and self-determination of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean. Furthermore, it ignores the commitment of the 33 Member States of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States when they proclaimed the region as a Zone of Peace.
The US claims associating the legitimate government of Venezuela and its President Nicolas Maduro with criminal organizations involved in illegal drug trafficking is an absurd pretext that is unfounded. Leaders in Washington are irresponsibly disregarding the assessment of their own Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) that, in its report this year, does not mention the Venezuelan Government among the authors or enablers of drug trafficking operations threatening the United States territory.
The Government of the United States resorts to lies once again to justify violence and plunder. They use them in the renewed implementation of the dominance scheme based on the Monroe Doctrine, key to their interventionism in the American continent. On the basis of similar fallacies, they have carried out ruthless aggressions resulting in considerable and protracted human costs. An example from recent decades was the charade about the alleged presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. This pretext served to attack and invade a sovereign country, causing the death of hundreds of thousands of its citizens and the forced displacement of a similar figure.
The United States is the largest market of narcotic drugs in the region and possibly the world, according to the World Drug Report 2025, published by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. This fact is well-known and the international community must denounce it. It is in the US where the largest networks are located, encouraging consumption, guaranteeing distribution, facilitating traffic, collection and accumulation of the large proceeds. Such networks launder the resulting drug money within the country's own economy with relative impunity, without serious and effective efforts being made by the government to stop it.
The immense proceeds from the illegal US market encourage the emergence and operation of drug trafficking networks in Latin America and the Caribbean. That country's powerful arms industry and its uncontrolled privileges for commercialization feed the deadly power of the region’s criminal organizations. Neglect and failure to act on the root causes of the phenomenon within the United States will only intensify the regional impact of this scourge.
Cuba reiterates its firm commitment with the honest and effective fight against illegal trafficking in drugs, the defense of the national sovereignty and the promotion of peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Cuba denounces in equally strong terms the use of irregular migration flows as an excuse to turn the waters of the Caribbean Sea into a war zone. No one with minimum common sense and honesty believe that the quantity of the troops, the combat materiel, naval forces, including nuclear submarines, and the firepower that the United States has sought to deploy in this peaceful area of the world, is the appropriate manner to fight organized crime, illicit drug trafficking or irregular migration flows, nor that such deployment is truly pursuing its stated goals.
Cuba reiterates the call made by President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the 13th Extraordinary Summit of ALBA-TCP, last 20 August, to firmly denounce the new imperialist shows of force.
