The Hague, 20 October 2019. The Embassy of Cuba in the Kingdom of the Netherlands celebrated on the evening of Saturday 19th the Day of Cuban National Culture with the attendance of special guests mainly Cuban artists who reside in the Netherlands and friends linked to the world of culture.
Ambassador Soraya Alvarez paid an emotional homage to the recently passed Prima Ballerina Assoluta Alicia Alonso and highlighted the importance of the Cuban culture in the country´s image as a distinct, highly valued and unique trade worldwide.
During the evening Nicolás Guillén poems were recited and songs of the new and old traditional trova were performed by Hubert Walter, Jorge Martínez and Estrella Acosta, Cuban artists who reside in the Netherlands who delighted the attendees with their excellence and Cubanness.
The celebration was a great opportunity to taste exquisite plates of the Cuban cuisine, recently declared Immaterial Heritage of the Nation for its Deep national roots and the touch of distinction that makes it unique.
