Embassy of Cuba in the Netherlands congratulates FAHA for the 25th anniversary of its founding

The Hague, November 11,  2019. The Ambassador of Cuba in the Kingdom of the Netherlands H.E. Mrs. Soraya Alvarez Núñez welcomed the leadership of the Foundation for the Antilles Humanitarian Aid (FAHA), in the celebration of its 25 anniversary and reiterated its appreciation for all these many years of love, support and solidarity for Cuba under the motto: “De corazón a corazón” (From heart to heart).

Since 1994 FAHA has made important material contributions and donations to cultural centers and hospitals in the cities Matanzas and Havana including the Matanzas Arts Schools, “Faustino Pérez” and Provincial Pediatric Hospitals, “Mario Muñoz” Nursing Home, Central Laboratory of Jovellanos municipality, the polyclinics in Cayo Ramona and Playa Girón among other institutions. Their work of solidarity also includes financial contributions for the recovery in the aftermath of the tornado that hit Havana last January. In 2007 the Council of State granted Dick Assink and Pierre Lamping, FAHA´s President and Vice-president respectively, the Medal of Friendship in acknowledgement of their work of solidarity and love for Cuba.

As part of the celebrations for the anniversary several members of the Foundation Board will visit Cuba in the upcoming 20th of November to engage in a broad program which includes meetings to the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and visits to several institutions in Matanzas which they have supported since their inception. 

FAHA presented the Cuban Ambassador with a photo album which collects the most significant moments of the Foundations relationship with Cuba.  This album will be presented t in the Mayor’s office of Raalte where the foundation´s Headquarters seat.
