En horas de la mañana de este 25 de febrero de 2026, se detectó una lancha rápida infractora dentro de las aguas territoriales cubanas con matrícula de la Florida, Estados Unidos, con folio FL7726SH, que se aproximó a una 1 milla náutica al noreste del canalizo El Pino, en Cayo Falcones, municipio Corralillo, provincia Villa Clara.
Al aproximarse una unidad de superficie de las Tropas Guardafronteras del Ministerio del Interior, con cinco combatientes, para su identificación, desde la lancha infractora se abrió fuego contra los efectivos cubanos que provocaron que el comandante de la embarcación cubana, resultara lesionado.
Como consecuencia del enfrentamiento, hasta el cierre de esta información, por la parte foránea, cuatro agresores resultaron abatidos y seis lesionados, quienes fueron evacuados y recibieron asistencia médica.
Ante los actuales desafíos, Cuba ratifica su voluntad de proteger las aguas territoriales, teniendo como base que la defensa nacional es un pilar fundamental para el Estado cubano a favor de la protección de su soberanía y la estabilidad en la región.
Prosiguen las investigaciones por las autoridades competentes para el total esclarecimiento de los hechos.

On the morning of February 25, 2026, a violating speedboat was detected within Cuban territorial waters. The vessel, registered in Florida, United States, with registration number FL7726SH, approached up to 1 nautical mile northeast of the El Pino channel, in Cayo Falcones, Corralillo municipality, Villa Clara province.
When a surface unit of the Border Guard Troops of the Ministry of the Interior, carrying five service members, approached the vessel for identification, the crew of the violating speedboat opened fire on the Cuban personnel, resulting in the injury of the commander of the Cuban vessel.
As a consequence of the confrontation, as of the time of this report, four aggressors on the foreign vessel were killed and six were injured. The injured individuals were evacuated and received medical assistance.
In the face of current challenges, Cuba reaffirms its determination to protect its territorial waters, based on the principle that national defense is a fundamental pillar of the Cuban State in safeguarding its sovereignty and ensuring stability in the region.
Investigations by the competent authorities continue in order to fully clarify the events.
