Ottawa, October 25, 2012- The Honorable George J. Furey, Speaker of the Senate of Canada, received today H. E. Héctor Igarza Cabrera, Ambassador of Cuba to Canada on Senate building.
The highest representative of the Senate welcomed the Cuban diplomatic and wished success during his tenure representing the people and government of Cuba in Canada.
During the meeting both representatives highlighted the strong ties between the peoples of Cuba and Canada and the opportunities to continue strengthening the diplomatic, commercial and investment relationship between both countries.
Ambassador Igarza also denounced the terrible impact of the US’ blockade on the daily life of Cubans, which continued strengthening even during the pandemic time. The meeting was the opportunity as well to explain the damages of the hurricane Ian in the Western provinces of the island, mainly Pinar del Rio and the recovery works to return houses, food and other essential service to the population
Cuban Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Giuvel Orozco Ortega, Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Cuba in Canada.
