Debate on San Remo Music Awards transcends Cuba’s borders
Despite attempted boycotts, the San Remo Music Awards will be held in Cuba from April 5 to 10, something that has brought up diverse points of view on international media.
Newspapers, magazines and news agencies from Switzerland, Russia, Argentina, Paraguay, Germany, the United States, Spain, France and Mexico, among others, have echoed the news, confirmed by the organizers of the event, and opposite opinions have emerged after eight international artists, including Andy y Lucas, Kalimba and Alex Ubago, cancelled their participation.

Declaration by the revolutionary government
The revolutionary government condemns the continuance for over 60 years of the economic, commercial and financial sanctions formally imposed by the United States on 3rd February 1962. On that date, the then president, John F. Kennedy, issued Proclamation 3447, “Embargo on All Trade with Cuba” under Section 620(a) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. He thereby conferred official status on the unilateral economic hostilities already in effect against Cuba since our country’s revolutionary victory.

Bloqueo de EEUU a Cuba comenzó hace más de 60 años
La Habana, 3 de febrero de 2022.- El bloqueo de Estados Unidos contra Cuba lo oficializó el presidente John F. Kennedy el 3 de febrero de 1962, pero es una política que comenzó mucho antes, afirmó este jueves el embajador Abelardo Moreno.
Durante una transmisión especial de Cubavisión Internacional, conjuntamente con Radio Habana Cuba y Prensa Latina, el diplomático dijo que la orden de Kennedy tuvo su antecedente más inmediato en “en el infame memorándum secreto de (Lester) Mallory”, subsecretario de Estado durante la administración de Dwight Eisenhower(1953-1961).
