Ambassador of Cuba holds a meeting with former President of Croatia, H.E Mr. Stjepan Mesic

The historical bonds of friendship between Cuba and Croatia were recalled at the fraternal meeting held between the Ambassador of Cuba, H.E Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios and the Croatian former President H.E Mr. Stjepan Mesic.

The former President underlined the excellent relations maintained with Cuba during his period at the presidency of Croatia (2000-2010) in which he paid an official visit to the Island in 2009; also as President of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia and at the head of the Non Aligned Movement in 1991. Mr. Mesic highly valued the friendship maintained with the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and subsequently with the Army General Raúl Castro to whom His Excellency sent warm greetings. Likewise, he congratulated the new President of the Council of State and Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and reiterated his readiness to maintain the collaboration links with Cuba.

The Ambassador thanked the former Croatian President his courtesy and his loyal and historical friendship. His Excellency reaffirmed Cuba´s availability to continue strengthening the relations with Croatia in all sectors, mainly the economic and commercial fields where there are possibilities. Furthermore, the Ambassador provided information about the Updating of the Cuban Economic and Social Model and the recent changes in the leadership of the Council of States and Ministers.
