Chargé d'Affaires of Cuba received at the headquarters of the Unity Party of Liberia.

In order to pay a courtesy call, Cuban mission chief, Yordenis Despaigne Vera, was received at the headquarters of the ruling party of that country, Unity Party, by several official of this organization. The Liberian delegation was headed by Mr. Eugene Lenn Nagbe, current Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Liberia and secretary general of UP, accompanied by Isaac F. Mannah, national vice chairman for government relations, among other leaders of the organization. The Chargé d'Affaires was accompanied by the Second Secretary Carmen Maury.

During the meeting the Cuban diplomat gave an overview of the origins of Cuban Communist Party and its role in the development and consolidation of socialist ideology. He later conveyed the will of the Communist Party of Cuba to expand and strengthen ties with other counterpart organizations around the world, based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs, as it has done with more than 100 party organizations of various trends in Africa.

Minister Nagbe mentioned and thanked the presence of Cuban medical professional in Liberia during the Ebola outbreak of 2014, stating that "Cuba not only provided medical supplies, but was the largest team of professionals who were in the advanced stage, attending directly to those affected". He also stressed the importance of this first meeting, with the expectation of increasing them in the near future, in order to strengthen the ties between Cuba and Liberia and identify those areas that may be potentially beneficial to both countries. Prior to the closing of the meeting, the Cuban diplomat was interviewed by journalist Edward Tamba of the LBSC, Liberia's only state-owned radio and television broadcasting channel.

The Unity Party, which has existed since the 1980s and is the result of the merger of three political formations, has been the ruling party in Liberia since 2006, when President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, a candidate for that political formation in the 2005 and 2011elections is elected, and even today the only woman who has the status of Head of State on the African continent.
