Addis Ababa, January 26, 2026.- The ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the African Union, Lucas Domingo Hernández, held a fruitful meeting at the headquarters of the African Union with H.E. Mr. Souef Mohamed El-Amine, Chief of Staff of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
The exchange made it possible to reaffirm the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Africa, as well as the African Union’s recognition of Cuba’s solidarity contribution, particularly in the fields of health and education.
Both parties agreed on the importance of strengthening multilateralism and South-South cooperation in an international context marked by complex global challenges.
The ambassador of Cuba to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Meylin Suárez Álvarez, accompanied the Cuban Ambassador to the African Union.
