Cuba represented in celebration of the 43rd anniversary of "Monrovia Day

Monrovia, February 16th, 2020 - Responding to an invitation from the Mayor of Monrovia, Honorable Jefferson Tamba Koijee; the Chargé d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy in Liberia, Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera, participated in the celebration of "Monrovia Day" that took place at the City Hall of the Liberian capital.

This event is in line with Ordinance No.4 which declares February 16 of each year as a holiday within the City of Monrovia. The day was set aside to create a sense of identity for the city and to raise the level of awareness of the residents, as well as to promote activities and programs for the development of the town.

In this activity, the Chairman of Monrovia City Council welcomed the presence of the Cuban diplomat in the event that also was attended by members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, personalities and authorities of the Liberian government.

The occasion was propitious to exchange greetings with the Liberian Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, who is also a member of the City Council, and with officials of the Mayor's Office.

"Monrovia Day" was celebrated after 8 years of not celebrating.
