Addis Ababa, February 24, 2026.- The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the African Union, Lucas Domingo Hernández, participated in a significant visit to the headquarters of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), as part of the activities organized for the African Union Partner Group (AUPG).
This visit highlighted the essential role played by the Africa CDC as a pillar of the African Union's institutional architecture for disease control, prevention and response. The institution stands out for the modernity of its facilities, the strength of its technical capabilitie and the sustained commitment of its staff to contemporary health challenges.
During this visit, the AU Partner Group held a productive exchange with the Director General of the Africa CDC, Dr. Jean Kaseya, who provided a comprehensive overview of the institution's strategic priorities and its work in strengthening the continent's health security.
