Monrovia, February 11, 2020 - This afternoon, we received at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in Liberia, William Wesseh, directive member of the Liberia-Cuba solidarity group.
During the meeting, aspects related to the organization and celebration of several Cuban events for the next months were discussed.
The Head of the Cuban Diplomatic Mission in that country, Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera, updated her interlocutor on the most recent measures applied by the Trump administration against Cuba, the consequences of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by successive US governments against our country and the rejection that its reinforcement has caused within the international community.
For his part, the Liberian friend declared himself in favour of friendship between the peoples of Cuba and Liberia, reiterated the decisive support of Liberian friends for the immediate end of the blockade and condemned the illegal US occupation of the Guantanamo naval base.
The occasion was propitious to enjoy the documentary "Mandela and Fidel" on the occasion of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the liberation of the anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela, who became the first black president of South Africa with the arrival of democracy in 1994.
