Monrovia, June 6, 2020 - The Cuban Embassy in Liberia, on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the creation of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Cuba, congratulates all its members whose fundamental mission lies in the preservation of State Security and Internal Order in the country, which harmoniously links the confrontation of criminal and counter-revolutionary activities with the prevention of these phenomena, applying with flexibility educational, prophylactic and preventive procedures.
On a day like today, but in 1961, in view of the need to confront the aggressive policy of the United States in its undeclared war against Cuba, the Ministry of the Interior was established. During these years, MININT's purposes have been to safeguard the people's conquests, detect and neutralize counter-revolutionary actions and guarantee order and tranquility, with multiple functions such as the fight against crime, attention to penal reeducation, fire protection, traffic regulation and border security, among others.
The indestructible unity of MININT and the people in Cuban society is materialized not only in the relationship that the combatants establish with the people to carry out their specific functions in the confrontation, but also in the fact that they are part of the mass and social organizations and have the duty and right to participate in the democratic and institutional mechanisms of the country; at the same time, the State agencies and the organizations already referred to face counter-revolution and crime as a whole.
MININT is the body responsible for directing, executing and monitoring the implementation of State and Government policy with regard to State security and the country's internal order.
