Monrovia, June 2, 2022 - On the occasion of the First National Conference on the Right to Development, the Head of Mission of Cuba in the African country Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera held an exchange with Cllr. Dempster Brown, president of the Independent National High Commission on Human Rights of Liberia.
The Cuban diplomat explained the progress made by the Greater of the Antilles in this area, which is recognized worldwide. She emphasized that, in line with the fulfillment of human rights, the Cuban Magna Carta considers all persons equal before the law, without any discrimination, and pointed out that Cuba shows progress in health, education, culture, sports and participation in international instruments, even when campaigns point out violations of these guarantees.
He stressed that people with disabilities, the elderly, women and other sectors also have ample protection by the State, which also ensures the preservation of gender equality and against discrimination on racial or gender grounds, freedom of artistic creation and association.
In October 2020, the largest of the Antilles was included as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the period 2021-2023, with a management focused on ensuring an international order based on inclusion, cooperation, social justice, human dignity and respect for diversity.
