Ethiopian-Cuban voices recover the history of a generation educated in Cuba

Addis Ababa, December 20, 2025.- We reunited with our Ethiopian-Cuban brothers and sisters, this time immersed in the creation of a new audiovisual project aimed at telling the story of their years of study in Cuba. This initiative is led by Ethiopian filmmaker Henok Mebratu, who seeks to recover, through a human and testimonial perspective, the lived experiences of a generation shaped by cultural exchange, solidarity, and academic training between both peoples.

The project proposes to reconstruct, through interviews, personal memories, and audiovisual material, the life experiences, challenges, learning processes, and emotional bonds forged during the period of study in Cuba.

This first meeting marks only the beginning of a creative journey envisioned as a long-term space for exchange, research, and collective creation, from which ideas, narratives, and diverse perspectives will emerge to enrich the project and jointly build stories that deserve to be heard, shared, and preserved.
