Foreign Minister Asistant for American Affairs reiterates Liberia's support for Cuba's fight against the blockade.

Monrovia, September 16, 2020 - The Foreign Minister's Advisor for American Affairs at the Liberian Foreign Ministry, the Honorable Maxwell P. Vah, received in his office the Cuban Chief of Mission in Liberia, Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera.

Among the various topics discussed, a vital issue was the tightening of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this regard, the Cuban diplomat commented on the position of the Cuban government. She reaffirmed that the blockade imposed by the United States to Cuba in a unilateral way, continues to be the main obstacle for the full economic development of the Greater Antilles and the cause of the greatest shortages and limitations of the Cuban people, which have been intensified in these times of pandemic.

For his part, the Liberian official expressed that his country will continue to be consistent and coherent with the permanent support given to Cuba in its struggle for the lifting of the blockade and at the same time he once again stressed his condemnation by qualifying the US blockade against Cuba as an inhumane action.

The blockade imposes challenges, creativity, firmness. But Cuba is not alone in its struggle. The world extends its hand to it in a gesture of mutual solidarity, from the most extraordinary scenarios.
