The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, met with Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, on the sidelines of the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku, AzVision reports quoting the press service of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the meeting, the parties pointed out that the cooperation between the two countries has a long history and expressed their satisfaction for their mutually beneficial development at the current stage.
The importance of bilateral economic and trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and Cuba was highlighted, as well as joint efforts within global initiatives. The parties declared that they would continue their mutual support within the UN and other international organizations. At the same time, the importance of achieving the objectives of economic and humanitarian development within the UN 2030 Agenda was emphasized.
In recalling previous visits, two ministers stressed the importance of continuing such contacts.
The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, expressed his hope for the successful presidency of Azerbaijan in the Mnoal and the further development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Minister Mammadyarov also drew attention to the importance of coordinated activities between the NAM and the G-77.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov reported on the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan and said there was no progress in the negotiations due to the non-constructive position of the aggressor country. He noted that such an approach contradicts the norms and principles of international law and the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla wrote his sincere words in the Commemorative Book dedicated to the centenary of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
