Full support in Canada for the Cuban Revolution

Ottawa - In a talk organized by the Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC), Cuban Ambassador Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz reported on the current situation in Cuba in the face of threats from the United States government and the intensification of the policy of siege on the Cuban economy.

Friends of the solidarity movement and Cuban residents gathered at the Cuban Embassy, including nearly 200 online participants.

Moderated from Toronto by Julio Fonseca and Samantha Hislop, co-chairs of the CNC, the meeting provided an opportunity to inform those present of all the ongoing initiatives to support Cuba in the difficult moment it is going through.

Malmierca Díaz thanked them for their solidarity with his country and called to "defend not only the Cuban people, who are going through a difficult situation now; but the idea that what is happening is not acceptable": "It is something that is completely against the law," he emphasized.

From Havana, messages were conveyed by Leima Martínez Freire, Director of North America at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples; and Ana Teresita González Fraga, Director General of the Directorate General of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Residing Abroad (DGACCRE) of the Cuban Chancellery.

The Cuban diplomat answered several questions and assured that the Cuban people will defend their independence in all possible ways: "Our people are prepared for that, and we will do it if necessary. But we would like to have peace, we would like to exist in peace, and find solutions to the problems we face," he added.

Attendees expressed their solidarity and full support for the Cuban Revolution and its people.
