Monrovia, December 5, 2022 - Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera signed the Book of Condolences, opened at the Chinese Embassy in Liberia, on the occasion of the death of former Secretary General of the Chinese Communist Party and former President of the People's Republic of China, Jiang Zemin.
In her message, the Cuban diplomat Martínez Herrera expressed her condolences to the Chinese people, party and government, as well as to the family and relatives of the former leader of that sister Asian nation.
The Cuban Head of Mission was received by the Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Mr. Ren Yisheng, with whom she had a friendly and cordial meeting. The Chinese diplomat thanked the government and people of Cuba for decreeing official mourning for the death of comrade Jiang Zemin, pointing out that this is an action that demonstrates the friendship and respect in the relations between the two nations.
Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin contributed to the promotion and comprehensive development of the close ties of friendship and cooperation between our countries, which made him worthy of the José Martí Order.
