Following meetings with authorities in Quebec and Ottawa, the delegation from Cuba's National Institute of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation (INDER), headed by First Vice President Raúl Fornés, conducted a working visit to Toronto to hold exchanges with Ontario authorities.
The morning began with the delegation being welcomed by the Head of Protocol of the Parliament and a guided tour of the Ontario Legislative Building, the seat of the Government, Parliament, and the Lieutenant Governor of the province.
Subsequently, First Vice President Raúl Fornés was received by Verónica Panton, Director of International Relations and Head of Protocol, and later by Logan Kanapathi, Member of Provincial Parliament. Both meetings took place in a cordial atmosphere that facilitated the parties in identifying initiatives and actions of common interest to advance the strengthening of bilateral relations, especially in this sphere so important to both peoples.
The INDER delegation held an in-depth exchange with members of the Cuban Consulate General in Toronto. The First Vice President addressed topics of great interest, including an update on the Cuban sports system, its priorities, challenges, and opportunities, as well as a significant number of initiatives to diversify and strengthen bilateral relations with Canada, especially in this area.
Thus concludes the working visit to Canada of the Cuban delegation, framed within the 80 years of diplomatic relations, a visit that can be described as successful, a reflection of the consolidation of relations between both countries, based on friendship, dialogue, and mutual respect, which has allowed the creation of an environment of trust and collaboration.
