Official visit of the member of the PCC Secretariat to Addis Ababa concludes strengthening bilateral ties

Addis Ababa, February 4, 2025.- The visit of the Cuban delegation to Ethiopia on the occasion of the celebration of the Second Congress of the Prosperity Party, from January 31 to February 4, 2025, headed by the Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Yudí Mercedes Rodríguez Hernández,  culminated today with the farewell at the Bole International Airport by the Deputy Minister of Water and Energy, Mr. Motuma Mekassa, and the Ambassador of Cuba to Ethiopia, Meylin Suárez Álvarez.

The participation of the Communist Party of Cuba in this Second Congress reaffirmed the historical ties of brotherhood and cooperation between the two peoples.

Throughout an intense work agenda, the Cuban delegation held fruitful exchanges with authorities of the Ethiopian Parliament, the Vice President of the Prosperity Party, Friendship Associations and the small community of Cubans residing in the country, thus consolidating the solid ties that have united both nations over half a century.

One of the most emotional moments of the visit was the tribute to the fallen Cubans in Ethiopia, recalling the legacy of solidarity and sacrifice that has marked the relationship between the two peoples. Likewise, the meetings with officials of the Cuban Embassy and the visits to emblematic sites of the Ethiopian country made it possible to strengthen mutual knowledge and cooperation in different areas.

This trip is part of the upcoming celebration, on July 18, of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Ethiopia, a milestone that ratifies the commitment of both nations to friendship, cooperation and the defense of their common values.

The visit concluded with positive results in the strengthening of relations between Cuba and Ethiopia, the historical ties of brotherhood were reaffirmed, political commitments were consolidated and the will to continue promoting bilateral cooperation was ratified.

The visit made clear Cuba's role as a strategic and supportive ally of Ethiopia, ensuring the continuity of a friendship forged in history and mutual commitment.
