Secretary General of the regional organization “Mano River Union” meets with the Cuban Head of Mission in Liberia.

Monrovia, January 2, 2021.- The Head of Mission of the Cuban Embassy in Liberia, Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera, held a working meeting with Ambassador Medina A. Wesseh Esq, Secretary General of the regional organization Mano River Union, who visited the Cuban Embassy in Monrovia.

During the fruitful meeting, the Cuban diplomat related Cuba's experience in the development of collaboration with African countries in different areas, which has extended to almost all the countries of the continent.

The Secretary General of MRU, for her part, highlighted the possibility of cooperation, in different areas, between Cuba and the group of African countries gathered under the organization she represents.

Ambassador Wesseh works effectively building socio-political networks, with a career in law and politics and has more than 30 years of work in the cause of humanity in general through contributions to the improvement of women's participation in society, economic development of society, politics, law, promotion of women's leadership, strengthening of regional cooperation and integration, for peace, security and development.

The Mano River Union is an international association that was launched by the African countries of Liberia and Sierra Leone in 1973. It is named after the Mano River, which is the natural border between these two neighboring countries. Guinea and Ivory Coast joined this union in 1980 and 2008, respectively.
