US blockade violates human rights, Cuba denounces in Geneva

Cuba denounced in the voice of its ambassador to the UN-Geneva, Juan Antonio Quintanilla, the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, which was described as a flagrant and systematic violation of human rights.

The diplomat delivered those remarks in the continuation of the activities of the 51st session of the Human Rights Council, a forum in which he rejected the siege imposed on the Cuban people by Washington for more than 60 years.

Cuban diplomats receive copy of a resolution that demands the end of the blockade

A copy of a resolution demanding the end of the blockade against Cuba was received by Cuban diplomats to the UN from representatives of the City Council of the US city of Hartford, capital of Connecticut, according to what was reported in Prensa Latina.

The document asks President Joe Biden to end Washington's economic, commercial and financial siege against Cuba and normalize relations between the two countries, said José Oro, member of the board of directors of the Global Anti-Blockade Movement (NEMO).

Dynamic test is carried out for voting abroad on the referendum for the Family Code

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla reported on Twitter that he successfully concluded the dynamic test for the referendum vote on the Family Code that took place this Sunday among Cubans on diplomatic missions or work commitments abroad.

The Special Electoral Commission of the Minrex informs that the conditions for the development of the referendum process are guaranteed, said Rodríguez Parrilla.

World Council of Churches calls for the exclusion of Cuba from the list of states sponsors of terrorism

The Canadian reverend, Christopher Ferguson, reported that the World Council of Churches passed a resolution this Thursday in which they ask to remove Cuba from the US list of countries that sponsor terrorism, administered by the US State Department.

"We ask that Cuba be removed from the list of states that sponsor terrorism and that the churches be accompanied as prophetic voices of peace, hope, cooperation and mutual respect," says the initiative presented by the Presbyterian Church of Cuba, supported by the Presbyterian Church of Colombia, the United States and Canada.

Technical exchange held between Cuba’s Border Guard Troops and the U.S. Coast Guard Service

On September 8 and 9, a technical exchange between Cuba's Border Guard Troops and the United States Coast Guard Service was held in Havana, with the objective of exchanging on ways to increase operational cooperation between both services regarding the combat against migrant smuggling, illegal migration and drug trafficking, as well as search and
maritime rescue operations.
