Mr. Chairman,
On behalf of the Cuban delegation, I wish to express our full support for your chairmanship of the 63rd session of the COPUOS Legal Subcommittee.
Respecting international law is an imperative to guarantee peaceful coexistence. It is also a necessary premise to maintain unity within our diversity. It is an essential requirement to move forward towards the integration that can no longer be deferred.
Washington, April 16, 2024 - On April 16, 2024, representatives of Cuba and the United States held bilateral migration talks in Washington DC.
Cuba has been warning about dangers posed by the impunity of Israel's actions against Middle Eastern countries, with the complicity and support of the US government. The illegal attack on the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, in flagrant violation of international law and the 1961 Vienna Convention, threatened international peace and security, potentially leading to regionalization of the conflict with unpredictable consequences for world peace. The UN Security Council's failure to respond with determination to the previous bombing of the Consulate was the catalyst for last night's Iranian response.

Five years have passed since the kidnapping in Kenya, on April 12, 2019, of Doctors Assel Herrera Correa and Landy Rodríguez Hernández, Cuban physicians who were serving in that country as part of an intergovernmental cooperation agreement in which they were voluntarily participating.
