The Embassy of Cuba in Austria congratulates the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ, by the German initials) on the occasion of the centenary of its foundation on the 3 November 1918.

The Embassy was represented by some of its members who participated, as international guest delegation, in the activities which took place on the 3 November 2018 to commemorate this significant date. The Chairman of this political force, Mirko Messner stressed the KPÖ´s long history of antifascist and anti-imperialist struggle in pursuit of the social equality and international solidarity.

On June 25, 2018, a 181 days-old boy named Adam López Macías underwent a surgery aimed at correcting a life-threatening congenital malformation that consisted in a transposition of the great arteries.  The surgery lasted 5 hours. His delicate condition, plus a subsequent hypotension and bradycardia, forced doctors to keep his small sternum open until June 29, that is, 96 hours.

Once again the international community demands the end of the blockade against Cuba

The UN General Assembly almost unanimously adopted this Thursday, 1 November for the twenty-seventh consecutive year, the resolution demanding the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by United States against Cuba for almost 60 years.

The resolution was adopted by 189 votes in favor, 2 votes against, and 0 abstentions. The United Nations has 193 Member States.

Cuba Strengthens Foreign Investment in Economy

Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, stressed on Monday the importance of strengthening foreign investment in the national economy.

We should strengthen the still incipient foreign investment in the Cuban economy, Malmierca said during the opening ceremony of the 36th edition of the Havana International Fair, FIHAV 2018, in which President Miguel Diaz-Canel attended.
