Official and National Mourning in Cuba after His Excellency Dr. Sam Nujoma, Founding Father and first President of the sister Republic of Namibia, has passed away

With deep regret, our people have learned of the death of our dear friend of Cuba, His Excellency Dr. Sam Nujoma, Founding Father and first President of the sister Republic of Namibia. He showed throughout his life a special affection for Cuba and support for the Cuban Revolution, from the stage in which he led the heroic Namibian people in the struggle for independence, and later, when he assumed the highest leadership of his nascent independent State, and also as an African leader, a symbol of firmness and defense of just causes. The Cuban Party, Government and people extend their most heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of the sister Republic of Namibia, and to family and friends. For this reason, Official Mourning is declared from 6:00 a.m. on February 10 until 12:00 midnight on February 11, 2025, and National Mourning on February 12, 2025, from 6:00 a.m. until 12 midnight.

Cuba participates in Tourism Fair in Latvia

Cuba participated in the Tourism Fair in Latvia, held in Riga between February 7-9, with a wide presence of tourism promoters from the Nordics and Baltics states. The Concellor of tourism for the Nordic countries, Eddy Santos, held several meetings in B2B and professional sessions. Cuba seeks to continue the rapprochement and joint actions with operators in the area to increase the tourist flow in the area.

Cuba offers warm welcome to Iran in Helsinki

Ambassador Mrs. Beatriz Parra González had the pleasure to receive a courtesy visit of HE Mr. Javad Aghazadeh, Ambassador of Iran, to whom she convey congratulations upon his recent accreditation in Finland. Cuban diplomat took the opportunity to thanked Iran for its historic support to Cuba against the US blockade. Ambassador Parra wished HE Aghazadeh success in his new duties, assuring him Cuba's support also from Finland.

Renowned Finnish company "Kebab Perniö" approaches Cuba

Ambassador Beatriz Parra González held a cordial meeting this Thursday with Mr. Rizah Veseli, CEO of the company "Kebab Perniö", a factory of homemade kebabs made with fresh ingredients, a pioneering industry in Finland. During the exchange, the Cuban diplomat learned about the main products produced and promoted by "Kebab Perniö", recognized nationally for the quality of its food products. Both parties discussed business opportunities in Cuba and the possibility of participating in the Havana International Fair next November, the main commercial event in the Island. Also participating in the meeting on behalf of Finland was Mr. Eugen Moldovan, Commercial and Supply Director of "Kebab Perniö".

MINREX transfers legalization functions to MINJUS

With an official ceremony held this Monday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the function of legalizing documents to take effect abroad and in the national territory was transferred from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Justice. The ceremony was presided over by the head of MINJUS, Oscar Manuel Silveira Martínez, and the first vice minister of MINREX, Gerardo Peñalver Portal. This transfer is carried out with the objective of integrating all the phases of the document legalization process that is carried out by the registry entities, law firms and consultancies, and the new legalization unit that is created, in the Ministry of Justice, for this purpose. The MINREX, together with the Ministry of Justice and the Corporate Group of International Law Firms “Servicios Legales S.A”, has adopted the necessary measures to guarantee the continuity of this process without interruptions in the legalization service and complying with the established deadlines for this, with the quality and efficiency that the population requires.
