CUBA CELEBRATES AFRICA DAY

Cuba joins the international community in commemorating Africa Day. Africa and Cuba are united by historical ties of brotherhood and solidarity.

As a result of the cruel Atlantic Slave Trade, nearly one million 300 thousand Africans arrived in our Island centuries ago. Their presence made a huge mark on our country. Africa is part of the very essence of our nation. Cubans are a Latin-African people, and we feel extremely proud of our African roots.

EMBASSY AND CUBAN SOLIDARITY WORKERS IN SOUTH AFRICA PAY TRIBUTE TO THE NATIONAL HERO JOSE MARTI

In a modest ceremony, the staff of the Embassy of Cuba in South Africa, and representatives of Cuban solidarity workers in the country, paid tribute to our national hero, on the 123th anniversary of his fall in combat in Dos Ríos.

During the ceremony, the participants recalled his role in the organization of the wars for the independence of Cuba, in the foundation of the Cuban Revolutionary Party and the Patria newspaper, as well as his incorporation to the troops until the moment of his fall.

South African honor Cuban internationalist fighters in the Month of Africa and Nelson Mandela's centenary year

On the night of May 14, the emblematic Freedom Park in Pretoria was overwhelmed with the participation of hundreds of people in a great event of solidarity with Cuba, in which tribute was paid to the Cuban internationalists fallen in the struggles for the liberation of Africa .

The event served as an ideal setting to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Cuito Cuanavale Battle, the Month of Africa and the Centennial of Nelson Mandela.
