28 years of fraternal diplomatic relations between Cuba and South Africa

Pretoria, May 11, 2022.- Cuba was the first country diplomatically recognized by the government of the African National Congress under the leadership of Nelson Mandela.

On May 11, 1994, in what was considered one of the first foreign policy acts of the South African democratic government, Presidents Nelson Mandela and Fidel Castro formalized ties that really dated back to the 1960s, when the first anti-apartheid fighters went to Cuba to study, receive medical care and military training.

South African delegation participates in celebrations for Workers' Day in Cuba

Pretoria, May 1t, 2022.- Thousands of Cubans return today to the squares in all the cities and towns of the country, in parades for International Workers' Day. The parade is reissued after two years of suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic and is joined by supportive friends from mass and social organizations from around the world, including a brigade of 14 South African brothers. Thank you brothers for the permanent solidarity with Cuba.

Cuba celebrates Freedom Day together with the brotherly South African people

Pretoria, April 27, 2022.- The Ambassador of Cuba in South Africa, Enrique Orta González attended today the official ceremony to celebrate the National Day of South Africa with the presence of the President of the Republic, Hon. Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa and several members of his cabinet and the Diplomatic Corps.

On the occasion, the Cuban representative had the opportunity to convey to the South African president and to the press present, the

Beginning of the us invasion of Cuba "Bay of Pigs"

Pretoria, May 17, 2022.- In the early morning of April 17, 1961, the mercenary invasion took place, nominated by its organizers "Operation Pluto". They were part of the invading contingent —Brigade 2506—, a total of 1,500 men, who had left Puerto Cabezas aboard five United States warships and escorted by other naval units, also United States.
