Fellow countrymen,
Speaking here tonight, I’m presented with perhaps one of the most difficult tasks in this long struggle, which began on November 30, 1956, in Santiago de Cuba.
The people are listening, the revolutionary fighters are listening, and the regular troops – whose fate is in our hands – are listening also.
Meeting with Prof. Dr. Krasae Chanawongse, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and President of the organizations "Raks Thai Foundation" and "Asian Disaster Preparedness Center". Present also S.E. Vichit Yathip, President of the Thailand-Myanmar Association of Cultural and Economic Cooperation and other representatives.
Excellent exchange on prospects for strengthening cooperation in the framework of the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Cuba, to be commemorated on 5/15/2018.
Maintaining infant mortality rate below five per 1,000 live for the 10th consecutive year is reason enough for Cuba to celebrate.
But even more extraordinary is that the country has achieved the lowest rate in its history in 2017, four per 1,000 live births
Preliminary data, made available to Granma by the Medical Records and Health Statistics Directorate, indicates that 114,980 births took place, 1,892 less than in 2016, and 465 babies under a year of age died, 32 less than in 2016, the lowest number on record.
Organized by the Embassy of Cuba in Thailand, on December 29, 2017, a solemn and joyful celebration took place in Bangkok for the 59th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, on January 1, 2018, and the advent in 2018 of the 150th Anniversary of the beginning of the War of Independence of the largest of the Antilles.
