Tay Ninh celebrates 55th founding anniversary of Cuban Embassy

Tay Ninh celebrated the 55th founding anniversary of the Cuban Embassy in the southern province with a gathering held on May 21 at the relic site of the former base of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam.

Tran Van Chien, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, highlighted that Cuba was the first and only country to send an ambassador to present credentials to the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam on March 4, 1969 shortly after its formation. Notably, the residence and workplace of then Ambassador Raul Valdes Vivo were located at the historical relic site of the Provisional Revolutionary Government's base in Tan Lap commune of Tan Bien district.

Cuban president congratulates Vietnamese peer after election

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Wednesday congratulated To Lam for his election as president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. On his X profile, the head of State wished To success in his new tasks and expressed Cuba’s will to continue to strengthen the excellent bilateral relations that exist in all fields.

General To Lam, who had been the minister of Public Security of Vietnam until now, was elected in the seventh session of the National Assembly (Parliament) to assume the Presidency of the Republic for the 2021-2026 term.

Cuba congratulates new president of Vietnam’s Parliament

The president of the National People's Power Assembly of Cuba (Parliament), Esteban Lazo, on Tuesday congratulated Tran Thanh Man on his recent election as head of the Vietnamese Legislative Body.

In a letter sent to his Vietnamese counterpart, Lazo affirmed that the relations of friendship and solidarity between both institutions are based on the historic brotherhood forged by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and President Ho Chi Minh, since the difficult years of the struggle for Vietnam’s liberation and its reconstruction.

Vietnam, Cuba promote cooperation in justice

A delegation from the Supreme People’s Court led by its Deputy Chief Justice Nguyen Van Tien paid an official visit to Cuba from May 13-18 to promote bilateral relations and attend the 11th International Meeting of Justice and Law.

At a working session with Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of Cuba Rubén Remigio Ferro, Tien reviewed the developments in judicial cooperation between the two countries. He also briefed the host on main reforms in the Vietnamese court system in recent times, including perfecting institutions, reforming judicial administrative procedures, building electronic courts and applying information technology in court activities.

Cuba sends greetings to Vietnam on Dien Bien Phu Victory anniversary

Roberto Morales Ojeda, permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, on May 7 extended greetings to the Vietnamese Party and people on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954-2024).

In his message posted on a social network, the official highlighted the role of President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the Vietnam People’s Army in the victory which resounded across the five continents and shook the world, and marked the defeat of the French colonialism.
