Cuban Ambassador exchanges with poet Juan Garrido

Canberra 17 February 2025. The Cuban Ambassador to Australia exchanged today with the poet Juan Garrido who has been part of the Cuba solidarity movement in Australia for many years.

The diplomat thanked Garrido for his longstanding work and his love for the people of Cuba.

They discussed, among other topics, the possibilities of continuing to advance the work of promoting Cuban poetry in Australia, as well as the activities in the El Romero Community and other matters of interest.

Literacy For Life’ members were received by the Cuban Deputy-Minister of Education 

Havana, 15 February 2025. Cuba's Deputy Minister of Education Cira Piñeiro received this morning members of the Australian organisation ‘Literacy for Life’.

During the meeting, they exchanged on the experiences of more than 12 years of application of the ‘Yo si puedo’ method in Australia in Aboriginal communities. The method has been successful and has made a significant contribution to raising literacy levels in these communities. . 

 

Cuban Music at Sydney Opera House 

Sydney, 14 February 2025. On 13 April, a concert of Cuban music will take place at the prestigious Opera House in the beautiful city of Sydney, by the prestigious Australian singer Ayşe Göknur Shanal.

The event will feature outstanding instrumentalists and will include anthological pieces of Cuban music, including some by Ernesto Lecuona.

Australian Professor  gives conference at Pedagogy 2025

 

Havana, 13 February 2024. The Australian professor Patricia Anderson gave a conference today on her experiences in the application of the ‘Yo si Puedo’ method in the southern country. 

The lecture was given as part of the ‘Pedagogy 2025’ Convention and was very well received by the academic audience present.
