Public Statement by “Australian Solidarity with Latin America”

On his first day in office, President Donald Trump has reinstated the designation of Cuba as a "State Sponsor of Terrorism". Cuba is not and has never been a terrorist nation. The inclusion of Cuba on such a list is a violation of International Law, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the rights of the Cuban people to sovereignty, self-determination and economic development. Cuba itself, has been the target of numerous terrorist attacks planned and launched on U.S. soil.

Statement by the Communist Party of Australia – NSW branch

On the 14th of January outgoing US President Biden removed Cuba's designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism. This was part of a larger deal negotiated by the Vatican and one that was widely celebrated across the globe. 6 days later, the new President of the US, Trump has added the designation back on Cuba.

Chargé d'Affaires a.i. participates in Australia's National Day Ceremony

Canberra, 26 January 2025. The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in Australia Ivianes González participated in the official ceremony for Australia's National Day.

The event was attended by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Governor General Sam Mostyn. The Diplomatic Corps was also present.

The ceremony included official speeches, military parades, the traditional flag raising, performances by indigenous dancers and a 21-gun salute.
