Cuban Ambassador participates in radio program “Latin America Now”

Canberra, 15 May 2024. The Cuban Ambassador Tanieris Diéguez participated in the radio program “Latin America Now” of the Canberra Community Radio 2XX on 98.3 FM.

The ambassador addressed several topics of interest, mainly about the Southern Cross Brigade and its 40 years of work in favour of friendship between the peoples of Cuba and Australia.

Australian solidarity members support motion against U.S. blockade of Cuba

Canberra, 15 May 2024. A group of friends, members of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), went to the Federal Parliament to support the motion presented in February against the blockade of the United States government to Cuba.

The motion was registered by the Vice President of the House of Representatives of the legislative body and Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba, Mrs. Sharon Claydon, and supported by Mr. Warren Entsch, also co-chair of the Friendship Group.

Cuban ambassador participates in the Flag Raising Ceremony on Paraguay´s Independence Day

Canberra, 14 May 2024. The ambassador of Cuba in Australia, Tanieris Diéguez, participated in the Flag Raising Ceremony on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Paraguay celebration.

The ceremony, held at the Latin American Plaza, was led by the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Paraguay in Australia. It was attended by the Head of Protocol of the Foreign Ministry, and members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Canberra.

Work by Australian maestro to be performed at the National Theater of Cuba

Australian maestro Lee Bracegirdle

Canberra, 14 May 2024. On June 15, 2024, the National Concert Band of Cuba will present the work of the Australian maestro Lee Bracegirdle at the National Theater.

The maestro is a composer, conductor of symphony orchestras and professional French horn player; he has also maintained a close working relationship with Cuban orchestras since 2014.

The name of the work to be presented is "Legends of the Old Castle". It will be performed on a harp (soloist) accompanied by a wind and percussion orchestra.

“From Australia to Cuba with Love” Campaign: June 1 - July 26, 2024

Canberra, 13 May 2024. For the third consecutive time, the "From Australia to Cuba with Love" Campaign will be held from 1 June to 26 July 2024, under the coordination of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS).

As in previous editions, friends from all over Australia will travel, walk, run and dance to cover 14,886 km between the capitals of Canberra and Havana. This Campaign against the US blockade of Cuba also seeks to raise funds to donate to projects in Cuba.
