Ambassador Rodolfo Benítez Verson, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the UN in Geneva, held a fraternal meeting with Mr. Ramesh Rajasinghham, Representative of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and Director of the Coordination Division, at the organization's headquarters in this Swiss city.

During the exchange, the Cuban representative acknowledged OCHA's valuable support to Cuba in the face of climate-related events and disasters, always counting on the Organization's prompt and efficient response.

There is no doubt that in today’s turbulent and challenging context, the implementation of the right to development is an urgent matter. Global and collective solutions are required for problems of global scope. Unilateralism and individualism have failed.

The prevailing development paradigms in today’s world generate poverty and exclusion for the majority. The irrational patterns of capitalist production and consumption, driven by blind market laws and mandates, disregard what is most valuable: human life and dignity.
