UNESCO recognizes Cuba's development in culture and heritage despite the impact of the blockade and sanctions imposed by the US government

Paris, October 2024. Within the framework of her visit to Paris to participate in the event for the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO program on the Route of Enslaved People, the Vice Minister of Culture of Cuba, Lillitsy Hernández Oliva, held a fruitful exchange with the Assistant Director General for the Culture Sector, Mr. Ernesto Ottone and his team. The Ambassador of the Island to UNESCO María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro also participated.

At the meeting, the senior official of the Organization and his companions recognized Cuba's development and commitment in the areas of attention of the Sector, despite the repercussions of the blockade and the sanctions imposed against the Island.

Cuban Deputy Minister of Culture exchanges with UNESCO Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences Sector

Paris, 10 October 2024. The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Enslaved Persons' Route Programme provided a propitious setting for the exchange between the Cuban Deputy Minister of Culture, Lillitsy Hernández Oliva, and the UNESCO Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences Sector, Ms. Gabriela Ramos, to which was also attended by the Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro.

Deputy Minister of Culture at UNESCO denounces impact of blockade and inclusion of Cuba in the list of states sponsors of terrorism

Paris, October 9, 2024. This week UNESCO hosted the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the its Routes of Slaved People program, a date that has been remembered throughout this year in several countries, including Cuba.

Representing the country, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Lillitsy Hernández Oliva, attended the ministerial round table organized for this purpose.

Paris, October 9, 2024. On October 9 and 10, UNESCO hosted a day of reflection, on the occasion of the commemoration this year of the 30th anniversary of its program of the Routes of Enslaved People.

Cuba was represented at the event by the Vice Minister of Culture, Lillitsy Hernández Oliva, who participated in the ministerial round table, together with representatives from Panama, Saint Lucia, Benin, Senegal, Canada, the United States, among others, who agreed on the importance of carrying out this type of awareness-raising actions, on one of the most regrettable pages in the History of Humanity.
