Cuba promotes strengthening of cooperation with UNESCO in documentary heritage

Paris, October 2024. The participation in the International Conference of the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme offered a favorable setting to enhance Cuba's cooperation with UNESCO in documentary heritage. At the important event, Cuba was represented by the Director of the Document Management Center of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Saylin Sánchez Portero, who was accompanied by Maria del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO, and Raysa Rodríguez Gómez, Specialist of the Center.

Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO denounces crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza

Paris, October 18, 2024. The Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO, María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, today condemned at UNESCO the crimes committed by Israel against the people of Palestine.

During the consideration of the draft decision presented by the Arab Group “Consequences of the current situation in the Gaza Strip/Palestine in all aspects of UNESCO's mandate” at the UNESCO Executive Board, the Cuban Ambassador reiterated the condemnation of the genocide unleashed by Israel that has taken the lives of more than 42,000 people, including children, women and the elderly, in just one year, while the international community remained passive in the face of such an atrocity.

Cuba reiterates at UNESCO its denunciation of the blockade and unjust inclusion in the list of states that sponsor terrorism

Paris, October 14, 2024. This Monday, the general debate of the 220th session of the Executive Council, the main body of the organization, in which Cuba participates as a member, began at UNESCO headquarters.

During her speech, the Cuban Representative to this body, Ambassador Dulce Buergo Rodríguez, president of the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO, denounced the negative impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government more than 60 years ago.

Cuba and UNESCO exchange views on Cultural and Artistic Education

Paris, October 11, 2024. As part of her program of activities in Paris, the Deputy Minister of Culture of Cuba, Lillitsy Hernández Oliva, met with the Assistant Director General for the Education Sector, Ms. Stephania Giannini, in which they exchanged views on the development of Cultural and Artistic Education. The Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO, María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, also participated in the meeting.
