CARICOM, Guyana and Cuba sign agreement on Cuba-CARICOM Day.
Guyana, December 8th, 2016. In the context of the 44th Anniversary of the CARICOM-Cuba Day, a Cooperation and Technical Assistance Agreement was signed between the Caribbean Community, Guyana and Cuba for the creation of a Center to stimulate the development of children, adolescents and young people with special educational needs associated with disabilities, at the headquarters of the Secretariat of the regional entity.
Speech delivered by HE Julio César González Marchante, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cuba to CARICOM and Ambassador to Guyana on the celebration of Cuba-CARICOM Day and the signing of the Technical-Cooperation Agreement CARICOM-Guyana-Cuba to create a Centre to stimulate the development of children, adolescents and young people with special educational needs associated with disabilities. Georgetown, Guyana – (December 1, 2016) President David Granger and First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, earlier this afternoon, visited the Cuban Embassy in Georgetown, immediately on their return from Barbados, where the Guyanese Head of State signed the Book of Condolence for the late President of the Republic of Cuba, Fidel Castro Ruiz.
The late President Castro, who is the longest serving leader of the 20th Century in this hemisphere, died on Saturday evening. He was 90 years old.
