President Granger signs Book of Condolence for late Cuban leader

Georgetown, Guyana – (December 1, 2016) President David Granger and First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, earlier this afternoon, visited the Cuban Embassy in Georgetown, immediately on their return from Barbados, where the Guyanese Head of State signed the Book of Condolence for the late President of the Republic of Cuba, Fidel Castro Ruiz.

The late President Castro, who is the longest serving leader of the 20th Century in this hemisphere, died on Saturday evening. He was 90 years old.

PPP Message on passing of Fidel Castro

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is deeply saddened over the passing of Dr Fidel Castro. This is indeed a great loss not only to the Cuban people but for freedom loving peoples throughout the world.

The late Dr Castro was undoubtedly one of the greatest revolutionaries of all times who during his lifetime had demonstrated that no sacrifices can be considered too great when it comes to defending the rights and dignity of the Cuban people.
