Abu Dhabi, October 2 – The Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz held a fruitful exchange with Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, where he highlighted the positive state of relations with EAU and promising opportunities in the economic, commercial, financial and cooperation fields.
The G77 has been called to attend the summit of leaders of the South to be held on December 2 next in the context of COP28, in Dubai. This initiative, unprecedented in the framework of the Conference of the Parties, will be a platform for articulating our Group’s positions at the highest level, in the setting of the climate change negotiations.
COP 28 will reveal whether, beyond the speeches, there is real political will among the developed nations to reach the urgent accords needed.
One of the most important actions of the pro tempore Presidency of Cuba will be the Summit of Heads of State and Government, convened by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, on September 15 and 16, 2023, in Havana. Under the theme “Current development challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation”, the leaders of each of the member states will have a space to decide on collective and practical actions in effectively confronting contemporary challenges, since as our President expressed: “Every minute counts in the search for solutions to the pressing problems of our people.”
