Barbadian government evaluates Cuban technical assistance against Alzheimer.
The Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, the Honourable Cynthia Forde, evaluated with Cuban Ambassador Francisco Fernández the possibility of implementing a technical assistance project with Cuban experts to deal with Alzheimer's disease, for which there is available the financing of the Pan American Health Organization´s office for the Eastern Caribbean. Accompanied by Deputy Minister Carolyn Springer and other senior officials of her team, the Minister expressed her satisfaction at having the experience and willingness of cooperation of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, as it has been historically, and highlighted the value of this action because both countries have a large segment of their population over sixty years of age, but in the case of Barbados it is necessary to carry out a study on the ground as proposed in order to elaborate a Strategy and a National Plan to determine more precisely the steps that must be followed to face that disease more effectively.
